Remember the fabulous Fable trilogy. What the Characters knew in Albion?

While major developers are hard at working on new franchises, old slowly forgotten or simply fade into the background, occasionally cheering fans any games “based on”. Some thus attracted a lot of attention (Hello, Hearthstone and “Quint”), the other made his debut so well (Hello you, The Elder Scrolls: Legends).

The glory of the series, has given rise to this article, by the way, too decided to earn some money: July 25 early access came out Fable Fortune — another hybrid of the popular card games in the piggy Bank Steam. To check the quality of the new TCG right now, and our review will appear in a few days.

In the meantime, we decided the details to remember the fabulous series from Lionhead Studios and Peter Molyneux in particular. Get out your handkerchiefs, Pioneers!
Fable: The Lost Chapters

Main theme music by Danny Elfman in the opening clip of the first part is a kind of trick for the blind. He could then take a new action role-playing epic for the typical “about nothing”. And really, how could she compete with such great projects like Gothic 2 or The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, released a little earlier? Of course not.
That’s just Fable: The Lost Chapters and not trying to be a model adventure early 2000s She narrated a different story…

A gift for my sister’s birthday? Good deeds? So begins the story of our hero.
With the starting area the game is extremely explained the rules of his world. Do good acts become good and get a halo over my head; like bad things soon grow horns. This was the beauty of Fable: performed the role that was chosen for the player. Around this amusing features were constructed and set, and the whole story.
The appearance of the hero was influenced not only by the beauty of the soul, but a whole bunch of factors. Skinny guy could almost instantly to fat, making meat and farinaceous food, and for the continuing pumping concrete skills received special, “class”, figure. The warrior was muscular, Archer high, mage began to glow hand and body and face were covered with blue drawings.

Starting to play for the plain “blank”, we gradually changed it according to your taste and created unique in every sense of the protagonist. It’s great revived the gameplay and walkthrough were done to measure non-linear and replayable.

But there were more haircuts and tattoos, which reacted differently to the NPC.
At least the first part and did not Shine in terms of plot, follow the course of events was interesting. In addition, the humor in all that concerned the life of such “privileged” members of society, as Heroes, pays for all the shortcomings.
In the beginning we were nothing and called us all (well, except that Corewood), so they had to put up with constant ridicule from the common people. And buying the title didn’t help. Glory must be earned!

So was that the only good solution was a struggle for a heroic career. No wonder that we have graduated from the Guild. So, sword, magic or bow in teeth and forward! And I must say, the battle took place is fascinating, the combat system was done very well and did not give bored any connoisseur of the genre.

Remember the Fable: The Lost Chapters not only due to the advanced for the time the character customization system. The game is remarkable for a caustic satire on the Heroes, reflecting all the secret dreams of the player.
As a result, the game became a sort of heroic character simulator, where we perform feats, earned fame and permanent sought to collect as many trophies as possible. Got a house, a wife… why not Sims?

In between courting a wife could have a good time in the tavern to drink beer with friends and gambling. By purchasing the same from a dealer in the shop the fishing rod you can go fishing to pull out of the water a couple of silver keys to open special treasure chests.
And all this against the backdrop of beautiful Albion, full of unsolved mysteries. That only cost the demons guards!

And each such special Character: who is the most evil, whom the good. All the magic door, demon-guardians open for one passage does not work.

Fable Anniversary

In 2014 he released the remaster of Fable: The Lost Chapters — first on Xbox 360 and later on PC. In fact, nothing new in the game in 2005 he was not brought, in addition to improved graphics and updated interface. In other words, the HD re-release has done its job: to provide the old game a new wrapper, retaining, as usual, and clumsy animation, and awkward character menu, and limited locations.
But what really was pleased to see in official version is a completely redesigned environment. Clear texture, high resolution and improved lighting have made the Albion a sight to behold! Apparently, the way it was intended from the beginning.

It is a pity that excessive realism did not go Fable Anniversary benefit. Of the tales with cartoon characters and stage scenery she had turned outwardly in a mediocre role-playing action game, albeit with a rather cute picture. The main thing here, as in life, is not to judge by its cover.

Whatever you say, and Fable: The Lost Chapters won over by its fabulous atmosphere. The game is for a person that constantly transformirovalsya under your influence, is in itself entertainment for hours. But when an interesting setting combined with boring jobs and classic English humor, it turns out not just good, but one of a kind game.
And let the trees never grow in real time — the first Fable brought to the genre action role-playing something of their own, “Fable”. For this, and remember.
Fable II

Three years later came a sequel. But if the first part was released as a console from Microsoft and PC, the latter remains exclusive to the Xbox 360 and Xbox One (for backward compatibility).
The action was started five hundred years after the events of the original. The middle ages gave way to the Renaissance, bows muskets, shirt — jackets, but Albion still needed in the one and only Savior.

This time, you can choose the gender of the protagonist.
Despite the dramatic change in setting, the main plot was quite trivial and literally moved the concept of Fable: The Lost Chapters. Fable II could not boast of new ideas, but she didn’t need to. It has become a classic sequel improved everything that was good in the previous draft, and fixed his flaws. What about new chips? Did without them! The developers have thought as follows… and added a game dog.

Furry companion was perfectly integrated in the local flavor.
Perhaps, for the whole game, we have never met a more dedicated and tenacious other than this one. Wonderful “Dogma” quickly found the treasure, and helped in battles and simply happy always in a playful mood. But only if our Hero did not go to the evil side — in this case, and the dog became much more aggressive.
Everything else, she could buy collars, give the nickname and train… What? “The Sims: Pets”, you say?

Subsequent DLC introduced the ability to change the breed of your pooch into a Dalmatian, Bloodhound or husky.
The world of Albion online has grown significantly, and the tiny location of the first part became more open and available for study. Hero learned to swim, to have children and to earn some money on the side of ordinary citizens. By the way, to get the specie most often had through a simple QTE. However, they lacked in the fishing mode.
In the second part of the opportunity not only to acquire housing, but also to buy up property, then to obtain the profit of its rightful owner. Interesting innovation can be considered and co-op mode, which however was not to everyone’s liking. This is understandable: after all, it was as though the second player was like Robin for the first. And who wants to be Robin when you can be Batman, but seriously?
But in the end the game turned out great. Corporate humor, a variety of character customization and fun combat system — all this only increased it. And the transition in the Renaissance made the Fable even more colorful than before.

Shortly after the sequel to Lionhead Studios have announced the third numbered part, the release of which took place in 2010. Fable III first appeared on the Xbox 360, and six months later moved to the PC, what fans of the series were very happy.
This time the world of Albion, not much has changed: the events took place fifty years later after the events of the previous part. So just change of colours: restrained pastel colors replaced the bright palette of the second Fable. In addition, the history of the newly elected Hero-Prince (or Princess), this time the natural heir of the former protagonist, began not with the usual childhood experiences, with quite a Mature period of life.

Cheerful four-legged creature safely moved to the next part, a new charismatic antagonist and all were beyond praise.
The whole plot is built around revolution, to lead which was instructed to us. It turned out that the Hero’s brother and at the same time the current king — evil tyrant and a terrible ruler, and only rightful heir to the throne has the right to overthrow him.
A new game has grown significantly in terms of production. In the dialogue appeared, loved by all the developers choice, and our decisions entailed far-reaching consequences. Which, as always, was reflected in the karma of the main character.

The previous part put an end to the monetary reward for completing tasks, depriving us of honest earnings and compelling to the real work and hard to find treasures. The third kept the mechanics and added such activities as play the lute and rolling dough for pies branded Fable. In General, a Paradise for lovers to plunge into the game world.
Dating other characters became deeper. Now you can’t just call NPC with them, but led him by the hand, and walk with him on a date. Scheme of romantic progress is familiar to many in Mass Effect: to move to the next level it is necessary to perform a small errand character.

Fable III has carefully preserved all the ideas of the previous parts. Yes, she no longer seemed so fabulous and has become in some sense more adult, but it does not diminished the “Fable” charm. Fans of the series that was quite enough.
Of course, the trilogy was not limited. At the time, the Studio has released multiple games in the same universe, but they all somehow parasitic on the three main parts. And about the cancelled Fable Legends even not want to remember… Too much pain it has brought to fans. Like the fact that Fable IV seems to not work ever. Maybe it’s for the best? Could the new part to outdo the old one to stand out from the crowd? Share your thoughts in the comments!
